Housekeeping

WHHHHHY? Why did I pick this week to announce another CYOB? Truly, I am an idiot. Anyway, despite the fact that this week I have had a book club meeting, a training session for the district’s new website, my school’s Open House, and a dentist appointment (the first of the school year! it’s a record for me!), I have managed to put together the spreadsheet of who will be participating, as well as the dates on which each story segment will be due. So keep an eye out for those in your email sometime this weekend!

Every night when I get home, it’s all I can do not to collapse in pile of exhaustion wrapped in a Snuggie. I actually considered it a triumph last night that I managed to watch the DVRed episode of So You Think You Can Dance before my eyelids slammed shut, only to be rudely reawakened five minutes (fine, six hours) later. This weekend I plan on writing the first part of the CYOB to pass on to the lovely RA and the semi-reliable Aaron, and it will go from there. Rock on, my little legion of  fiction writers. Rock on.

And now I am seriously sitting here contemplating whether or not it would be feasible to try to correct papers while getting a filling. I’m going to say probably not, especially considering the track record of these student dentists, but these papers need to get grades on them somehow. Any volunteers to read about the professional goals of eleven year olds? They are guaranteed laughs, no joke. One girl writes, “My greatest dream is to be a vet. I think I would be a great vet because I am tough from wrestling with my uncles.  I think I would need that toughness so that when an animal bites me I can tough it out,  help the animal, and treat my bite wound.”

Kudos to you, girlfriend, but don’t come whining to Ms. NPW when you’ve come down with a hot case of cat scratch fever.

Reading those papers actually sounds fun! Kids are so weird.

    Good luck at the dentist!

I’m not gonna lie, I’m looking forward to when my bf finally finishes school and officially becomes a teacher so I can read some of the papers he grades.

Best of luck at the dentist!

I had to read some essays from college freshmen on something life 101 type subject and I have never laughed so hard in my life. I think junior high papers would kill me. So, please send. :o )

If you could grade papers while getting a filling, you’d be Superteacher. Please share funny papers with us!

Ooh! I want to correct too! That would be so fun.

“Semi-reliable”? I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said about me. I’m a little touched.

Aaron, do you think that by saying that I am merely lovely that NPW is implying that I am NOT reliable? Hm. Need to ponder that one.

Sadly, math tests do not usually come with funny excerpts, except that one kid who wrote “Enchilada Verbatim” when the answer was “Euclidean Parallel Postulate.”

Grading those papers sounds much more entertaining than working in corporate law. I spent 3.5 hours yesterday entering time. Yippe.

Ha ha ha! I LOVE that kid’s writing!! Kids are hysterical sometimes. When they aren’t annoying as all hell that is.

I can’t believe I was lax in my blog reading again and missed CYOB sign-up! Damn. Oh well. I look forward to reading it, anyway.

I’ve never thought about being tough as a prerequisite for being a good vet. I thought, you know, being good at science and liking animals were the important things. But I suppose being tough couldn’t hurt. Good luck to her, I say.

It’s sad how much it depresses me when I fall asleep during my favorite shows. Last week I feel asleep during SYTYCD– thank god for DVR.

haha – the only time i’m ever jealous of my teacher peeps is when they get to read all that crazy stuff. you’ll have to do a “best of” compilation at the end of the year.

Wow. That’s an interesting reason for a career choice. Hm. . .

My friend is a middle school teacher and when she’s grading papers, one of our other friends always wants to write on some of the papers “College isn’t for everyone.”

NP-Dubs, I’m finally getting caught up on your blog after way too long, and I just want to say I’ve missed you and the blog. I’m glad to be back and am super-excited about CYOB.
